BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Build-A-Bear Workshop is expanding its reach in Minnesota with a new Bakeshop at Mall of America.
The shop recently opened on the first level right off the rotunda. It's the first in Minnesota for the company, and only the second location in the nation.
Shoppers can choose from already-made desserts or kids can decorate their own treats. Desserts are designed by Cocoa & Fig, a Twin Cities-based company.
"Last year, we celebrated our 20th anniversary as a company and we decided what better way to celebrate than doing cupcakes and letting people decorate cupcakes putting a little sweetness into their life," said Julie Hayes, district manager.
Starting next month, the shop will offer birthday parties where kids can learn how to decorate desserts.
The Build-A-Bear Bakeshop is located near the Build-A-Bear Workshop on Level 1 East, just off the rotunda.
