ST. LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Minn. - The Minnesota State Patrol says one person was killed and one was severely injured in a three-car crash that happened Monday afternoon near Jordan.
According to the state patrol, a Ford Fusion driven by 27-year-old Howard Joseph Ross Bartholoma of Jordan was headed north on Highway 169 just south of Delaware Avenue in St. Lawrence Township when the crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Bartholoma apparently lost control, careening into the southbound lane and sideswiping another Fusion, then spinning out and colliding head-on with a Toyota Highlander.
Bartholoma was killed in the crash while the driver of the Toyota Highlander, 33-year-old Luke Raymond Frederick of Mankato, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Shakopee.
The 20-year-old driver of the Ford Fusion that was sideswiped was uninjured, according to the state patrol.
Traffic was closed in both directions just north of Belle Plaine, and re-routed into Jordan.
