Patrick Henry High searched after gun report

Police say a call came in just before 3:30 p.m. that someone with a gun got off a Metro Transit bus and ran toward the school.

MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis Police responded to Patrick Henry High School on Tuesday due to a report of a person with a gun near the school.

Police say a call came in just before 3:30 p.m. that someone with a gun got off a Metro Transit bus and ran toward the school.

Officers searched the school room by room and students were ordered into a code red lockdown and evacuated.

Police later said video surveillance showed the person leaving the school while the students were in lockdown.

Police say their precautions worked, with everyone leaving the school safely.

Minneapolis Public Schools confirmed the information on social media, saying, "This afternoon after school let out and most students had left the building, an unauthorized visitor ran into Patrick Henry High School. There were concerns about the possibility of a weapon so Minneapolis Police was called. The police are currently evacuating the few staff still left in the building and are doing a room-by-room search of the premises. We will update you as we know more."

Police are still searching for the man, who they say was wearing gray, puffy jacket and a brown beanie.

School will go on as normal Wednesday at Patrick Henry.
