Mayo Clinic tops provider ranking

The latest ranking by U.S. News and World Report reveals that Mayo Clinic earned more number one rankings than any other provider
Mayo Clinic - Rochester, Minn.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Mayo Clinic has long held a place among the top medical providers in the world.

Well, the Minnesota-based organization can now lay claim to being the best.

The latest ranking by U.S. News and World Report reveals that Mayo Clinic earned more number one rankings than any other provider, ranking number one or number two in 11 of the 12 specialties based on reputation, services and volumes, safety and clinical outcomes.

"We have a deep commitment to delivering high-value health care that best meets patients' needs. We owe our success to truly dedicated staff that provide a seamless patient experience and the care that each individual needs," said John Noseworthy, M.D., Mayo Clinic president and CEO in a written statement.

U.S. News & World Report ranked Mayo Clinic number one in eight specialties on the 2014-15 Honor Roll including: diabetes and endocrinology, ear, nose & throat, gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, and pulmonology. Mayo ranked No. 2 in cardiology and heart surgery, orthopedics, and urology.

There are many external agencies that rate quality in health care, and Mayo Clinic is top ranked for quality by more well-known national assessment organizations than any other academic medical center in the nation.

"These endorsements reinforce our 150-year commitment to provide the highest quality care to each patient every day," remarked Noseworthy. "We are honored by this recognition, and we remain focused on our primary mission: putting the needs of our patients first and creating for them the best possible, most trusted and affordable model of health care for the future."
