WINONA, Minn. — Fire investigators are in Winona this morning digging through the rubble of a burned-out home where a man's body was discovered early Monday.
Crews were dispatched to the single-family home on the 100 block of East 8th Street just before 4 a.m. and took just 30 minutes or so to put the flames down. At that point firefighters went inside the gutted structure and found the victim's body.
As of Tuesday morning the victim had not been identified, and fire officials had not commented on a potential cause. Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are helping the Winona Fire Department with the probe into this fire.
Authorities have promised an update later Tuesday morning.
