GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Kathy Tingelstad, a former Minnesota State Representative and current Vice President of the Minnesota Federation of Republican Women, sat down with Breaking the News host Jana Shortal to explain why she remains a steadfast supporter of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Jana: Was it hard to be a woman for Kavanaugh after hearing Dr. Ford's accusations?
Kathy Tingelstad: “No. I believe what she said. Something happened to her and I believe what he said as well. But probably what happened was it could have been someone else.”
Jana: What did you think of Dr. Blasey Ford's testimony?
Kathy Tingelstad: “She had a lot of courage to come forward and she told things from her perspective. Granted it’s decades old and so she does need to have an opportunity to say her experiences and what they were, just like he has an opportunity to give his perspective and his point of view.”
Jana: You mention you believe both of them. How is that possible?
Kathy Tingelstad: “It’s just an issue of the timing of her memories and thinking that perhaps it could have been someone else, not Judge Kavanaugh that did that and so her perspective was she was being honest and truthful and from his he was also being honest and truthful.”
Jana: So believe she has a mistaken identity issue?
Kathy Tingelstad: “My personal opinion of that is yes.”
Jana: In your opinion is it wrong to presume that just because you are woman that you believe Dr. Blasey Ford?
Kathy Tingelstad: “I don’t think it should matter if you are a man or a woman as far as beliefs on that. You look at it from the perspective of fairness, truthfulness, honesty and what’s best for our country.
