Prior Lake woman drowns after falling off paddle board in Crooked Lake

A Good Samaritan with a kayak helped to bring the 35-year-old woman to shore on Thursday afternoon, police said.

BURNETT COUNTY, Wis. — Officials have identified the 35-year-old Prior Lake woman who drowned in a Wisconsin Lake on Thursday afternoon. 

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office said in a release that dispatchers got a call just before 3 p.m. on May 30 about a woman in distress on Crooked Lake near Siren, Wisconsin. 

A child told police a woman had fallen off her paddle board and he was unable to help her. 

Multiple crews, with the help of a passing kayaker, were able to bring the woman to shore, where lifesaving measures were started. Ambulance crews took the woman to North Air Care at the Burnett County Airport, where the woman was pronounced dead. 

The victim was identified as Jessica M. Lindberg, 35, of Prior Lake. 

Officials have not released any more information about this incident and said the investigation is still underway.
