LONGVILLE, Minn. — A man is dead after apparently drowning in a Cass County Lake Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Robert Mindock, age 78 of Illinois City, IL.
Sheriff Tom Burch says deputies were called to Lake Louise in Wabedo Township just outside Longville just before 3:30 p.m. on reports of a possible drowning. Mindock was discovered in the water near a fishing boat, and was declared dead on the scene.
Investigators from Cass County and the MN DNR are trying to determine what led to the Mindock's death while an autopsy is performed in Ramsey County.
It is the second drowning in Cass County in the past two days. On Monday a woman drowned at the Woodland Resort on Leech Lake's Kabekona Bay.
The woman was identified by the Sheriff's Office as 69-year-old Sandra Crow of Mora, MN.
Water safety experts will tell you that water temps in Minnesota lakes are extremely cold this time of year, and the human body can develop hypothermia in a short amount of time. They recommend that anyone in or around the water wear a personal flotation device.
