Minneapolis middle-schoolers produce school bus safety music video

Franklin Middle School students follow up on last year's Super Bowl welcome video

The Minneapolis middle school students whose music video welcomed Super Bowl visitors last year are at it again.

This time, the Future Boys and Girls Club at Franklin Middle School has set its musical sights on school bus safety.

“We wanted to make it fun, fun for the kids and something they could listen to over and over again,” Andre Hudson, a Franklin staff member, said about “Bus Safety Rules” the song he co-wrote with colleagues Michael Bratsch and Brandon Tuttle.

The students’ Super Bowl video “Coats, Hats and Gloves” was viewed hundreds-of-thousands of times on social media and featured on a network morning show.

Bratsch, the students’ teacher, said he received a request from the school district to produce the bus safety video.

Minneapolis Public Schools provided a bus for the video shoot.

“My hope for this video, it can actually save lives,” Bratsch said.

Franklin students enlisted for their safety video second and fourth graders from Elizabeth Hall Elementary School.

“They saw the video from last year so that made them super excited and they're hoping to all become now YouTube sensations,” Hall fourth grade teacher Kim DeGoey said.

Editing of the video is expected to take about a week, after which it will be released on YouTube.
