BLAINE, Minn. - Authorities are investigating after an Anoka County officer fired his weapon during a domestic call in Blaine Sunday night while confronting a man with a handgun and a butcher knife.

Officers were dispatched to a home around 6:45 p.m. Sunday on the 3200 block of 91st Avenue, where an adult man was allegedly threatening the occupants of the home, saying he was going to slit their throats.

Two officers from the Centennial Police Department arrived on scene and found the man holding a knife and a gun.

According to authorities, the man would not drop his weapon and was "non-compliant" with officers' demands. A single shot was fired by one of the officers, though that shot did not hit anyone.

A Taser was eventually used to get the suspect under control. Authorities say no one was injured in the incident. The gun he was holding was confirmed to be a BB gun.

The suspect, identified as a 64-year-old Blaine man, was arrested and brought to the Anoka County Jail where he is being held on charges of second-degree assault.

The officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
