Radio waves of KLBB going silent in Stillwater

Stillwater's KLBB-AM is popular for things like its "All Request and Dedication Show," carrying Packers games, Stillwater High School 'Pony' football games and local church services.

STILLWATER, Minn. - A Minnesota radio station with listeners from all over the world - goes quiet Saturday night.

Stillwater's KLBB-AM is popular for things like its "All Request and Dedication Show," carrying Packers games, Stillwater High School 'Pony' football games and local church services.

KLBB has been around for nearly 70 years.

Former KSTP news anchor and KLBB on-air voice talent, Stan Turner, said he's been thinking about what should be the final request during his show.

"A lot of people thought it would be a song like "We'll Meet Again" some mournful song, it's not. It is going to be up tempo. It's called "Your Love Takes Me Higher and Higher" by Jackie Wilson," said Turner.

Plans were announced last year to tear down the building KLBB occupies and develop the property into senior housing.
