The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says they have charged Shermeika Franklin, 39, with the second-degree murder of 42-year-old Mesheka Willis, whom she stabbed in the chest.
Officers were called to a report of a stabbing around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of Hennepin Avenue and North 8th Street.
The woman was taken to Hennepin Health where she later died just before 10:30 p.m.
The victim has been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office as 42-year-old Mesheka Willis of Minneapolis.
Franklin was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center in relation to the incident.
Franklin will make her first court appearance on Thursday.
