WALKER, Minnesota — A woman is dead after apparently drowning in the frigid waters of Leech Lake near Walker Monday.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch says deputies were dispatched to the Woodland Resort on Kabekona Bay just after 3 p.m. on reports of a medical emergency.
The woman has been identified as 69-year-old Sandra Crow of Mora.
First responders arrived to find an adult woman unresponsive in the water near a dock. CPR and lifesaving efforts were immediately started but ultimately proved unsuccessful. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine her official cause of death.
