MINNEAPOLIS - Though the Minnesota Twins opened their season on the road in Baltimore, the team still opened Target Field to a very special guest on Thursday.
Betty McClenahan is a big Twins fan who will turn 93 this summer. She has dreamed of visiting Target Field for years, but medical problems related to vascular dementia kept her from attending a game. She has now entered hospice care through Our Lady of Peace and her social worker helped Betty and her daughter Candace into the stadium for a VIP tour.
"I'm remembering things that happened better than a year ago," Betty said. "To bring things back to her means a lot," Candace said. "To be able to see her bring back memories that mean a lot, it's very special."
As part of her tour, Betty got to be the first Twins fan to tour the brand new Bat and Barrel restaurant and she even got to try on Kirby Puckett's jersey along with a 1991 World Series ring.
