Jessie Diggins, Kikkan Randall win historic cross-country gold for Team USA

It was the first Olympic medal ever for the U.S. women in cross-country skiing and the first gold for America in the sport.

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea - History has been made for Team USA in South Korea.

The United States took home its first medal ever in women's cross-country skiing Wednesday as Team USA, consisting of Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall, won a surprise gold in the women's team sprint. It was also the first ever gold medal for Team USA in cross-country skiing. Watch the thrilling finish here.

Diggins, of Afton, completed the come-from-behind win, passing Sweden in the home stretch to take the top spot.

Norway won the bronze medal, with Norwegian skier Marit Bjoergen becoming the most decorated Winter Olympian of all time with 14 career medals.
