BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Joselyn Chacon owns Siempre Con Amor, a floral arrangement business, in Brooklyn Park.
"Today, I'm going to build a 50-rose bouquet," Chacon said.
Rose by rose, petal by petal, Chacon has her work cut out for her. She even sacrifices sleep to run the business and make ramos buchones — large flower bouquets that can sometimes include hundreds of flowers, and can cost hundreds of dollars.
"I didn't sleep last night," she said, giggling.
This type of big bouquet started trending on TikTok over the past few years, meaning business for Chacon is blooming. She says the biggest bouquet she's ever made included 150 flowers.
"My hands start aching when it gets to 50 and 100... " she said.
Chacon, currently a student at NYU, flies back home to Brooklyn Park for every major holiday to put together her bouquets, working at it day and night. It's a sacrifice she's willing to make though, as ramos buchones has a special place in her heart.
"For my dad, every year, he would get my mom flowers or anytime he got the chance he would get my mom flowers," Chacon said.
As a first-generation Mexican American, Chacon says she wants to use her business to show her appreciation for the sacrifices her parents have made.
"I really want to help them, I really do," she said. "I don't want to see them struggle. Like, I've seen them struggle for a lot of their life, so that's what keeps me going."
Chacon uses the money she makes from the flower business to help her mom, Ofelia, and to help pay for college.
"She said it's a really beautiful feeling because she is really grateful that I'm able to acknowledge those sacrifices, not only for me, but for my siblings," she said.
And Chacon says she's happy to do it.
"I understand that, you know, we're struggling and I want to help them out," she said, adding, "It's something that really makes me happy."

Brittany Vega is also making ramos buchones out of her home in Bloomington. She has been trying to maximize her work time by taking short naps ahead of the big day.
"I feel like some of it is part of like word from mouth," said Vega. "They see someone gets something really big and you're like, oh, I want one."
Vega said people are often surprised by the size and weight of the bouquets.
"My fingers are tired," Vega said. "But I'm almost there."
Vega isn't taking orders at the moment for Valentine's Day, but can take orders for future holidays.
She can be reached on her business, Designs by B's, Facebook page or Instagram.
