RICHFIELD, Minn — Whether you call it odd, weird, or downright bizarre, one thing is for sure – this winter has been anything but what we're used to.

Across the metro and state, we've seen dozens of events cancel, postpone, or adapt their winter weather events thanks to the warm temperatures we've been seeing recently.

But for those businesses that are more geared towards the warm weather, it's cause for some excitement – business is spiking. At Dan's Nicollet Car Wash in Richfield, General Manager Raul Ramirez says they've stayed busy, especially with a string of days over 50 degrees.

"Not so busy compared to yesterday, the temperature has dropped a little bit today," he said. "Thursday was really busy, the line never stops here."

"We got a lot of people coming in," Ramirez added.

Taking a look around, and that's easy to see – lines were long Saturday afternoon, with many enjoying the weather.

"I mean, I can't complain!" Ron Walker said. "I just hope it's not zero in July."

It doesn't matter where in the metro you are – many businesses are taking advantage of the warm, weird weather.

"We've had ones that have been warmer, but never ones without any snow, in, you know, the end of January," Brian Kegel, General Manager at Wayzata Bay Car Wash, said. "It's just not really winter, it's more spring."

Also staying busy – mechanics.

"The business has been really good, it's, I would say it's probably a record January if I went and looked at the books," Bill Freiberg, owner of Bill's Service Garage in Hopkins, said.

You won't hear him complain though.

"People start moving when it's warm, we all kind of become cavemen in this cold weather," Frieberg said.

So while the sun is shining – at least for now – these businesses are taking it all in, and the business that comes with it.

"You know how Minnesota is, nice today and then it could be tomorrow, 10, 20 inches," Tyrone Jaromnes, a customer at Dan's Nicollet Car Wash, said. "I'm surprised that it's not!"
