GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Ben Dery is returning to Minnesota after spending five years in Seattle working for KARE 11’s sister station, KING 5.
He grew up in the Chisago Lakes area, and started his broadcast career in Duluth doing weather for the morning show. Before that, he graduated from SCSU with a degree in meteorology where he also interned at KARE in 2008.
His interest in weather came early. There are family pictures of him standing outside during a hail storm with an ice cream bucket on his head! And, on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout, he earned a merit badge for weather.
Ben is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM). When he’s not forecasting, you’ll find him outdoors either fishing, camping or hiking.
