Joe McCoy joined the KARE 11 News team in July 2024 as a dayside and weekend reporter. Previously, he was with our sister station WQAD in the Quad Cities where he was a reporter and weekend anchor. Joe graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois with a degree in journalism and economics.
Joe's biggest story so far was covering the Davenport apartment building collapse in 2023 that killed three people. A year after the collapse he was able to interview a resident that lost her leg in the collapse.
Joe loves sports and is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. Outside of work and sports he loves to go skiing, go on hikes, try new restaurants and spend quality time with family and friends. He was born and raised in Chicago and is happy to be back in a big city.
Journalism is Joe's passion, and he's eager to tell the stories of Minnesotans.
