Michelle Baik is a multi-skilled journalist on KARE11 Sunrise. She joined the team January 2024 after more than four years at WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin. Michelle has worn every hat in the Badger State—as weekend anchor, reporter and producer.
While the Midwest has been home to her since her college days, Michelle is “originally from”… several places. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Michelle moved to the U.S. with her family at 4 years old and did most of her growing up in Salisbury, Maryland. From there, she moved to the sunny and warm Tampa, Florida before heading to the Chicago suburbs to attend Northwestern University. Michelle graduated magna cum laude in 2019 with a double major in international studies.
Journalism has brought adventure to Michelle’s life. She’s covered presidents’ visits to Wisconsin, followed state races of national interest, contributed in Thailand to an online news magazine and worked at the TODAY Show in New York and again in PyeongChang for the 2018 Winter Olympics. The Twin Cities is now the center of the latest, exciting chapter.
