LOS ANGELES — Every year before the Oscars ceremony, the nominees gather for a luncheon to celebrate their achievements.
Amid the photos, hugs, interviews and congratulations, there's usually a "most talked about" moment or celebrity that makes the internet go wild. This year, the supporting actor that pawsitively stole the show was Messi, the 7-year-old border collie who portrayed Snoop in "Anatomy of a Fall."
Messi strutted his stuff on the red carpet, mingled with fellow actors — including Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera — was interviewed by Variety, and joined Amelia Dimoldenberg on a Chicken Shop Date.
Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone praised Messi, recalling to Variety how he reenacted a scene in the film and pretended to die until everyone became worried — but that's when he popped back up, perfectly fine.
Messi flew in from France to celebrate his film's five Academy Award nominations, including for Best Picture. He'll also be in attendance at the Film Independent's live read of "Anatomy of a Fall" at Los Angeles' Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday.
The 96th Academy Awards will air Sunday, March 10, 2024.
