ST PAUL, Minn. — Along with the new foods at the fair, there are 53 new drinks to help wash it all down.
But out of all the beer you can drink at the fair only one gives back.
The Great Minnesota Handshake is sold exclusively at the blue barn. One dollar from every cup sold benefits the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. That money will help fund financial literacy.
Stephanie Shimp, who owns the Blue Barn said she always wanted to do a collaboration project with meaning. The partnership is between The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, Indeed Brewing and the Freehouse.
“We brewed a strawberry milkshake Creamy Ale. It is just everything about the fair you can grab onto,” Shimp said. “Drink beer and do good while you are drinking beer. We are all in this together.
Andrea Molnau, who works with the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation said financial literacy will cover everything from teaching kids about money to helping adults secure and control their money. It will also help seniors make sure they’re not falling prey to scammers and fraud.
