FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - The Minnesota State Fair is underway and there are plenty of new security measures in place.
Last week, fair officials announced that bag checks will be instituted at all entry gates. Bags, purses, coolers and packages will be inspected at all 11 entrance points.
"Didn't even notice it, didn't even notice. And I have a bag. I mean, they were just really nice and it went perfect," one fair-goer told KARE 11.
"They were already aware and a lot of customers already had their bag open and ready to go," a fair official said.
Security staffing levels have also increased, while vehicle access and traffic within the grounds is more carefully monitored. There's also more surveillance than ever throughout the grounds, even on the top of the tower.
"I think it's a good policy considering, you know, what's going on in the world," one person said.
Call it a new tradition...to preserve all the others.
