FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — Severe weather is in the forecast again Thursday, prompting KARE 11 to declare it a Weather Impact Alert Day.

After a bout of storms tore through the Twin Cities — and State Fairgrounds — Monday, both weather and State Fair officials want to ensure folks have a plan to shelter safely.

Should severe weather hit Falcon Heights, fairgoers are urged to find shelter, preferably one of the six designated storm shelters scattered throughout the fairgrounds.

State Fair officials use a wireless emergency system, a weather official and the national alert system. The alert will come from the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center, so fair officials are urging people to enable notifications on their phones.

For those attending Thursday's Grandstand show, it's recommended they listen to announcements made at the Grandstand and watch the large LED screens on either side of the stage for any possible delays or postponements. According to the fair's website, should officials deem the weather severe enough to evacuate the Grandstand, fans are asked to hang on to their tickets for re-entry after the storm has passed.

The KARE 11 weather team said while damaging wind gusts are the main threat Thursday night, a couple of tornadoes and hail are also possible.
