FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — With the heat index climbing above 100 degrees, it's imperative to stay cool and hydrated when outdoors.
As tens of thousands of people converge at the state fairgrounds, officials with the Minnesota State Fair are offering some tips on how to stay cool.
The fair is allowing visitors to bring in their own reusable water bottles, with several drinking fountains and water stations scattered throughout the fairgrounds, including the KARE 11 Barn.
There are also water misters that can help you cool down with a quick spray, and two air conditioned buildings to offer some relief from the heat.
Regions Hospital also recommends wearing lightweight, breathable clothing and bringing portable fans. It's also important to wear sunscreen.
KARE 11's meteorologists are expecting more comfortable weather following Monday's scorcher — which includes a heat advisory until 8 p.m. — but it's still important to stay hydrated and cool. To find all the drinking stations and air conditioned buildings, click here.
