Dogs don't care if it's cold and snowy... they want adventure no matter what the season.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — When compared to epic winters Minnesota is known for, the 2023-24 model is puppy stuff. Temps in the 30s and no snow don't cut it for those who relish getting out in the elements usually served up by our cruelest season.

But let's be honest here... our pups usually don't care all that much what it's like outside. They just want to do something - anything - to stay engaged, energized and out of trouble.

The dedicated dog owners at kare11.com thought it might be a good idea to ask readers/viewers for some options when it comes to cold weather activities that are fun to share with fuzzy friends. And as usual... you came through.

Unleashed Hounds and Hops

“Just went for the first time and my dog loved it. Indoor dog park with a bar and restaurant," posted Paige Latham Didora.

The Minneapolis spot, located at 200 East Lyndale Ave. N, bills itself as an indoor/outdoor dog park, bar and eatery. You do need to register your pup, provide vaccination records and make a reservation before visiting.

"Love it there!" added Francie Vitali Duea.

Nine Mile Brewing

Francie is also a fan of Bloomington's Nine Mile Brewing, which warmly welcomes "well-behaved, leashed dogs inside the taproom and on our outdoor patio." Nine Mile does request that pups use their inside voices.

Stanley's Northeast Bar Room

This eat-and-drink hotspot checks all the boxes for dog owners. "They have so many dog-friendly details, from complimentary water dishes to a dog-friendly menu complete with appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Join them year-round on their heated, covered, dog-friendly patio," writes Sidewalk Dog.

KARE reader Amy Cox Meneghetti is a big fan of Stanley's, and so is her pup. "Jaida's favorite is the homemade pupcream, and she loves meeting new friends!," Amy posted.

Kaitlin Barrett is also big on the dogs and beers thing, saying she brings her two wire-haired fox terriers on visits to Forgotten Star (Fridley), Broken Clock (NE MPLS), Shakopee Brewing (Shakopee) and Uncommon Loon (Chisago City).

The Paw Pet Resort

Even when Minnesota's lakes are frozen solid, dogs can jump in the temperate waters of the pool at The Paw and paddle like it's summer. Stephanie Williams posted a pic of her dog Simon chasing after a tennis ball while getting a big aqua exercise.

Great Outdoor Hikes

It's tempting to just "get it over with" when temps are cold but your dog desperately needs to get out and stretch his or her legs. But gearing up in appropriate winter garb and going on an actual hike in a scenic setting is way better for both you AND Fido.

KARE 11 fans posted pics from the trails in Lanesboro and Red Wing to Taylors Falls, where Wendy Cright's pups Kato and Cashew like to gaze down at the scenic St. Croix River.

There are plenty of spectacular hikes to be had in the greater Twin Cities metro, including at Taylors Falls, where Kato and Cashew like to hang.

The Three Rivers Park District has miles and miles of awesome dog trails, both paved and unpaved, at parks across the greater metro area.

Minnesota State Parks also offer a great backdrop for hikes with your furry pal, as long as they are leashed.
