Hennepin Theatre Trust is now Hennepin Arts

President and CEO Todd Duesing joined KARE 11 News at 4 to discuss the changes.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Hennepin Theatre Trust, which brings Broadway shows and concerts to its downtown Minneapolis theatres, is now Hennepin Arts.

The nonprofit organization said the name change and rebranding — spearheaded by design agency Pentagram — involved extensive consultation with stakeholders, including board members, audience members and community leaders.

"Our new name, Hennepin Arts, marks a natural evolution for us," Megan Kunz, Vice President of Marketing and Communications said in a press release. "'Hennepin' connects to our unique place as a local destination and a place of origin for our reach across the state, and 'Arts' speaks to the breadth of our artistic endeavors. It embodies our deep roots along Hennepin Avenue while celebrating the expansive creativity that defines our mission."

Hennepin Arts looks to unify theater, education and community.

It also plans to bring even bigger shows to its theatres: Orpheum, State, Pantages and the Dudley Riggs Theatre.

President and CEO Todd Duesing joined KARE 11 News at 4 to discuss the changes.
