MINNEAPOLIS — What is it that Nicole Kidman says in the AMC Theatres commercial?
"We come to this place for magic... to laugh, to cry... because we need that indescribable feeling when the lights dim... and go somewhere we've never been before; not just entertained... stories feel perfect and powerful.
If you're looking to escape reality or relax on your day off or spend time with family or friends, there are plenty of options around the Twin Cities– as always. There are still showings of family-friendly "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" and "Hitpig!," the buzzed about "Conclave" and Tom Hank's latest "Here."
However, if you're looking for something new, here are five films we think are worth your time.
"Heretic" (R)
Two missionaries of the LDS Church, Barnes and Paxton, are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door. Greeted by Mr. Reed, a man who believes he has found the one true faith, Barnes and Paxton get caught in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.
"Heretic" was written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods for A24. The film stars Hugh Grant, Chloe East, and Sophie Thatcher. East and Thatcher are ex-Mormons themselves.
This psychological thriller shows audiences a side of Hugh Grant they have never seen before.

"Small Things Like These" (PG-13)
The highly-anticipated adaption of Claire Keegan's novel of the same name hits theatres this weekend thanks to Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's production company Artist Equity.
Starring Cillian Murphy, the historical fiction follows Bill Furlong, a coal merchant and father of five in 1985 Ireland. While delivering coal to the local convent, Bill finds a young woman locked in a shed. He returns her to the convent where the Mother Superior explains that the girl has mental illness. Bill starts to suspect that the school for girls may actually be a Magdalen asylum but the Mother Superior has given him a vague threat that if he speaks about what he's seen she could prevent his daughters from attending the local school.
Murphy stars as Bill, the father of five, alongside Eileen Walsh, Michelle Fairley, Clare Dunne, Helen Behan, and Emily Watson. The screenplay was written by Enda Walsh and is directed by Tim Mielants.

George, however, is determined to get back to East London to be with his mother and grandfather thus he defiantly embarks on an adventure back to his family– finding himself in peril while Rita searches for her missing son.
Saoirse Ronan was ready to take a break from work, but writer-director Sir Steve McQueen pulled her out of her “semi-retirement” for “Blitz,” she told Josh Horowitz on a recent episode of Happy, Sad, Confused. Ronan stars as Rita, alongside Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, and Elliott Heffernan.
