MINNEAPOLIS — With Minnesota's cruelest season on the doorstep, outdoor music seems a world away for most.
But for classic bands like Journey and Def Leppard, summer is always on the brain. On Thursday the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers dropped news of a big summer tour that will bring them to the green grass and friendly outdoor confines of Target Field on Aug. 19, 2024. Another rock legend, Steve Miller, will also be on the bill.
"We are thrilled to be back on the road in 2023 with so many good friends as part of this tour. No matter which city you come to this will be an amazing night of music," Journey said in a released statement announcing the tour.
"We shall hit the boards running with a brand-new stage show and set of songs that will celebrate specific parts of our history," added Def Leppard singer Joe Elliot. "We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeves, so... wanna join us? See you in the summer!"
Tickets go on sale to the general public Dec. 15 at 10 a.m., but there are a number of pre-sale and VIP opportunities available. Check out the Def Leppard and Journey websites for more.
Both Def Leppard and Journey have carved out a reputation as summer road warriors, playing dozens of sing-along hits under open skies. The 2024 tour currently calls for them to hit stadiums in 23 cities, beginning July 6 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The two bands are frequent touring partners and know each other well, having played together on and off for decades.
