MINNEAPOLIS — It looks like the perfect weekend for outdoor music - sun, cooler temps, and a fall-like vibe.
Too bad those holding tickets to the NBNL Music Festival will be changing their plans.
Organizers of the Sept. 8 event - which was to feature the Suburbs, Bad Bad Hats and others outside Graze Provisions + Libations - announced they were pulling the plug on the music fest just three days before it was supposed to take place. A released statement says there were a few contributing factors to the decision, but the only concrete one mentioned was a lack of ticket sales.
"A few contributing factors made us realize that it was best to cancel for 2024 and plan on a return in 2025," NBNL organizers explained. "Obviously, one factor was that ticket sales were lower than we were expecting, and we have been conjecturing that, being at the tail end of a summer that exploded with music festivals, NBNL just hit the saturation point."
The NBNL website says those who bought tickets will receive refunds within the week, and hinted the festival isn't done for good.
"All of the musicians and our staff are sad that we won't be celebrating the start of fall with you and wish you all the best September," the site reads. "Hope to see you in 2025."
