Safety plan for downtown Indianapolis

More than 100 IMPD officers and Indiana State Police troopers will be in downtown Indianapolis throughout the weekend.

There will be officers on foot, bicycles, horses, ATVs and vehicles.

IMPD will share live updates on X @IMPDnews. Text "IndyEventAlerts" to 67283 to be signed up for the latest updates.

Lucas Oil Stadium, however, isn't allowing fans to congregate nearby to listen to the concerts.

A spokesperson shared the following statement on behalf of Lucas Oil Stadium:

"For safety purposes, there will not be listening or tailgating outside the stadium for those guests without concert tickets."

The spokesperson said Lucas Oil Stadium's security contractors and partners at IMPD will be monitoring parking lots and other areas outside the stadium to enforce this.

IMPD shared a video on its social media pages, using some of Swift's songs to offer helpful advice for fans attending the concerts and other events downtown:

  • Be a "Mastermind" and plan ahead – Know your route and parking situation. Don’t park in restricted zones unless you want a “Blank Space” where your car used to be.
  • "Stay, Stay, Stay" on sidewalks – Pedestrians should stick to sidewalks and cross at designated crosswalks. Drivers, be alert: downtown will be filled with Swifties and increased traffic.
  • Don’t ruin your "Reputation" – Enjoy the concert responsibly, and steer clear of “Trouble.”
  • Leave the "Bad Blood" at home – Be courteous to those around you and help ensure everyone has "The Best Day."
  • Don’t Let the Jail Wagon Be Your "Getaway Car" – Follow instructions from IMPD officers and event staff to keep the fun going and avoid disruptions.

According to IMPD Chief Chris Bailey, the weekend of concerts is being considered an "all hands on deck" situation.

Due to the expected traffic and road closures downtown for the concerts, IMPD is asking for those who don't need to be downtown to stay away.

For those coming to a concert, Bailey said things will probably be harder getting out than they were getting in to the concert. Patience is key.
