MINNEAPOLIS -- Prom season is fast approaching, but it can come at a huge expense to high schoolers and their families: The average cost comes in at over $600 for the big dance.
That's why in 2007, local non-profit Project Prom decided to help make high school dreams come true by giving prom dresses to girls in need all over Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
"This is something everyone can get involved with," explained founder Jeni Asaba. "Most women have a dress or know a friend who has a dress that they can donate. It's just a really easy way to support local teens."
After distributing dresses to nearly 350 teens in March of 2018, Project Prom is now collecting dresses year round for the first time ever.
