Sunrise Summer: Top 5 MN State Fair foods

The Great Minnesota Get-Together is here, and we're ready to chow down.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - There's a lot to love about the Minnesota State Fair, but we all know the main reason we battle the crowds and walk around in the heat is the delicious food!

Here at KARE 11 Sunrise, we love to eat - so of course we have some fair staples we're passionate about. Of course, there are a lot of delicious items that are not on this list. Make sure you share your favorites with us on the KARE 11 Facebook page!

Tom Thumb Mini Donuts

The list has just started and we're already drooling. These mini donuts are the favorite of KARE 11 Sunrise reporter Ellery McCardle. Found in the southwest corner of Carnes Ave and Underwood Street, the Tom Thumb stand offers just two things: mini donuts and something to drink. Sign us up!

Corn Dog

Not to be confused with a Pronto Pup! This is the pick from Alicia Lewis - and if you want to switch things up, there are plenty of other options besides just a plain old corn dog. Double bacon, sweet corn, polish sausage - the Minnesota State Fair has it all. Alicia also said she loves the "Pickle Dog" - which sounds interesting and looks delicious.

Cheese Curds

A fair staple and must try, the battered deep-fried cheese curds are popular with the entire Sunrise team. You can also get mozzarella sticks at the stand on the east side of Underwood St. between Murphy Ave and Lee Ave.

Sweet Martha's cookies

You can't go very far at the MN State Fair without seeing a bucket of Sweet Martha's chocolate chip cookies. Some people might think they're overrated (at least according to our KARE 11 Facebook page), but we are big fans of these warm and fresh treats. The popular spot just opened up another location on Machinery Hill!

Fresh French Fries

Another favorite of our Ellery McCardle, you can't go wrong with some good old-fashioned French Fries! You can find the Fresh French Fries stand at two different spots inside the fairgrounds - including right by the KARE 11 Barn.

Honorable Mention: All-You-Can-Drink Milk

So this isn't exactly "food" - but it is the favorite stand of our KARE 11 Sunrise photojournalist Nate Anderson, so we couldn't leave it out! He's a big fan of the all-you-can-drink chocolate milk.
