MINNETONKA, Minn. — Plants and pets increase the quality of our lives and are important for our well-being. To have both is incredibly beneficial, but doing so means knowing which plants are safe for pets in order to keep everyone healthy and happy.
Megan Nichols from Tonkadale Greenhouse wrote this in her blog about Pet Safe Plants. It's a great list of pet safe plants.
It is really important that you pick pet-friendly plants to fill your house because if they start eating any toxic plant they could easily get very sick and potentially it could be fatal.
The ASPCA has these lists of toxic house plants for each specific animal.
If your pet has eaten a plant and starts showing these symptoms make sure you take them to your veterinarian:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Seizures
- Blood in the stool
- Lethargy
- Loss of appetite
- Bruising
- Nosebleeds
- Irregular heartbeat
- Inability to urinate.
Good Luck!
