WAYZATA, Minn. — There's just something about working in the wood shop for Erika Jarnes.
"I love to use my body to build. It feels kind of primal almost," she said.
Jarnes launched Tattered Timber last May, creating products out of mostly reclaimed wood and other recycled material. Her products include everything from serving trays, to tables, to cutting boards, to coasters.
"Diving into something like this has taught me a lot about being creative and not being afraid to pursue the path that’s not taken. As a woman in woodworking, there are not many of us," Jarnes said.
Behind all the works of art is a "you only live once" mentality from Jarnes.
"Get out there and do what you want to do because you don’t know how much time you have on this earth," she said. "You might as well have fun with it."
It's best to reach out to Jarnes on the Tattered Timber Facebook page and on Instagram.
