Women 'Crushing It' Wednesday: Gayle Schueller

Gayle started her career at 3M over 25 years ago as a physicist and is now focused on sustainability.

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — Gayle Schueller is on quite the ride at 3M.

"Absolutely fabulous journey," Gayle says.

Schueller started as a physicist with the company back in 1992 and is currently the Chief Sustainability Officer. She's in charge of setting the strategy for how 3M approaches sustainability, and the company's impact on the environment.

"To me, sustainability is really about the idea of helping future generations be able to live and thrive in the world," Schueller says. "How we really help improve people’s lives, which includes having a thriving planet."

Gayle says every day is different and can include things like presenting to the United Nations. She believes progress is all about recognizing ways that we can make a difference. "It may seem small but someone else can take it from there and really bring it to the next level," she says. "I do feel that science is the way to make a difference in the world."
