Women 'Crushing It' Wednesday: Stacia Bank

Minnesota wakesurfer Stacia Bank rides the wave into her professional career.

WAYZATA, Minn. — Getting on the lake is a luxury in the summer for most of us. Stacia Bank of Wayzata has turned it into a career.

"For me, it’s complete happiness," she said.

Stacia is a professional wakesurfer and spends lots of time riding the wave behind her boat on Lake Minnetonka.

"I’m a lake girl, I’ve always been a lake girl," she said. "In the summer most people know that if they want to find me and they want to spend time with me it’s probably going to be on the water."

Stacia competes in about six events every summer in the World Series of Wakesurfing. She's even wakesurfed as far away as the Danube River in Austria.

In 2017, she set the Guinness World Record for most wakesurfing 360s in a minute. She did 31 of them on Lake Minnetonka.

Stacia says she is still finding new ways for the sport to challenge her and loves teaching others how to do it too.

"Sometimes I think, as an adult, people forget that you can still play and still do things that are fun," she said.
