PLYMOUTH, Minnesota — One of Minnesota’s Fortune 500 companies is celebrating a long-standing partnership with a local non-profit. Securian Financial has been hiring employees with developmental disabilities from Lifeworks for more than 20 years. From peer mentoring to career development, this partnership is removing barriers and allowing people to thrive.
Securian Financial Community Relations Manager Nicole Hansen and Securian Messenger Scott Strohman stopped by KARE 11 to share how this partnership positively impacts employees and company culture. “Our goal is to create a culture that is diverse and inclusive. We want people from all walks of life to work at Securian Financial, including those with disabilities. Diversity and inclusion make us a stronger company,” says Hansen. Securian has been hiring people from Lifeworks for 25 years, and some of those first hires are still employed today.
