Walz to lead Minnesota trade mission to UK, Finland

The trip is scheduled for Nov. 13-19, and applications for businesses to join the delegation are now open. Stops include London and Helsinki.

Seeking to elevate the Land of 10,000 Lakes to a more international profile, Gov. Tim Walz is recruiting Minnesota companies to take part in a trade mission that will make stops in the U.K. and Finland. 

The trip is scheduled for Nov. 13-19, and will focus on the goals of increasing state exports, promoting Minnesota as a destination for business investment, and developing new business opportunities. The delegation will include representatives from the medical technology, food and agriculture, environmental technology, and educational sectors.

“Minnesota is a world class business destination. I’m looking forward to traveling with Minnesota industry leaders to showcase all we have to offer here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes,” Walz said in a Monday press release. “This trade mission will build on our existing relationships, helping Minnesota companies and producers increase their exports while also encouraging European businesses to expand operations here in Minnesota.”

Accompanying the Governor will be Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Commissioner Steve Grove, and Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen. 

The Minnesota Trade Office is organizing the trade mission, and applications to join the business delegation should be submitted by Friday, August 27, 2021.Those taking part will attend market and industry briefings, networking events with business and governmental leaders, and site visits to international companies.
