MINNEAPOLIS — If you've got it, Water Wave TV knows how to sell it.
"The weekends are definitely busy," said co-founder Kelvino while ringing up customers Friday. "Not this busy."
This weekend, Kelvino and his co-founders, Eric Geisthardt and Elliot Kerby, are offering big discounts on their big inventory of vintage clothing at their Water Wave TV store at 16th Ave. and Como Ave. SE in Dinkytown.
"We have little steals like Supreme," Kerby said.
"We have shoes like Retro Jordans, Yeezys," Geisthardt said.
"The hype items and stuff that not everyone can just get their hands on easily," said Kelvino, who is also a music artist.
The sale is in honor of their anniversary of opening the store on Nov. 14, 2020.
"Yeah, we opened during the pandemic," Kelvino said. "It was kind of weird."
They opened the store after realizing people who lost jobs during the pandemic were turning to ventures like selling shoes.
"I'd say 80 percent of the stuff in here comes from people that walk in and sell us stuff," Geisthardt said.
Additionally, the co-founders search thrift stores for potential merchandise. Meanwhile, in the back room of their own store, Minnesota clothing brands are also featured.
If all of that weren't enough, then listen to this. There's a recording studio in the basement and a podcast studio back upstairs, where host Geisthardt interviews Twin Cities talent. The podcast is uploaded weekly to their YouTube channel.
Established in 2018, Water Wave TV also hosts concerts at various venues.
For the businessmen, it all ties together.
"The sneaker community, the hip-hop community — we have vloggers come in here and want to be on our vlog," Geisthardt said. "We were like, we want to get a physical space so that we can meet people and people can actually come meet us."
"Am I proud? Yeah, I'm proud," Kelvino said. "I'd say there's a lot more work to do though."
To celebrate their anniversary, Water Wave TV is hosting a party Friday night at Asylum nightclub in Uptown. The sale at their store runs daily through Sunday, Nov. 14, from 12-6 p.m.
