Gas is getting cheaper across the Twin Cities

In the last week, source GasBuddy said the average price of gas fell more than 10 cents per gallon across the Twin Cities metro.

MINNEAPOLIS — Summer travel season is upon us and motorists in Minnesota, along with those driving across the country, are seeing some relief from high fuel prices.

According to GasBuddy, the average price of gas has fallen 10.4 cents per gallon in the last week. In a survey of 1,106 stations across the Twin Cities, drivers paid $3.26 per gallon on Monday.

"With GasBuddy data showing gasoline demand plummeting after Memorial Day, and refiners inputting the largest amount of oil into their facilities in years, it's very likely we'll continue to see gas prices fall as we approach July 4," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "Diesel prices also continue to decline to their lowest level in nearly 11 months. The future looks bright for falling fuel prices across the board, though we'll have to keep our eyes on hurricane season."

GasBuddy said the cheapest gas station in the Cities offered a price of $2.78 on Sunday, while the most expensive came to $3.59, a difference of 81 cents a gallon.

Last year on this date the average price of gas was $3.48, and ten years ago a gallon would have cost you $3.54.
