HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Minn. - The woman killed in a house explosion southeast of the Twin Cities has been identified by her family.
The Snoeyenbos family says 56-year-old Terry Snoeyenbos was killed in the explosion in Hampton Township on Tuesday morning. Her husband, Brian Suilmann, is in critical condition at Regions Hospital with severe burns.
First responders were sent to the home south of Hampton Township at 6:14 a.m. on Tuesday. The Dakota County sheriff says the blast could be heard from as far away as Hastings and Farmington.
A man, now identified as Suilmann, was found wandering the scene and told authorities he was looking for his wife. A few hours later just before 9 a.m., authorities found Snoeyenbos' body amid the blast debris.
Snoeyenbos was a mother and a grandmother. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in her 30s and was very active in the Parkinson's community.
“She was a great mom, always thinking of others and doing what she could to help," said her daughter, Stacie Enders. "She was always a very kind person.”
The Randolph/Hampton Fire and Northfield Fire Departments were on the scene of the explosion. Investigators are still looking into a cause, but say it could have been the home's propane system.
