Construction season is here with a massive $208 million project beginning on I-35W between Roseville and Blaine.
The project will last through 2021 and will include new MnPASS express lanes between Roseville and Blaine, new pavement on the road and ramps, and new bridges and noise walls.
But along with the upgrades, comes periodic lane and ramp closures.
"I would anticipate there will be some delay out here on the interstate,” MnDOT spokesman Kent Barnard says.
“We’re hoping people use alternate routes and people plan out their trips to help ease congestion.”
The first round of lane closures run on the southbound side of 35W from Lino Lakes to Blaine.
The second round of closures will start up later this summer in New Brighton and Mounds View.
“We’re not going to have any two ramps in a row closed so we can make sure you have access on and off the freeway,” Barnard says.
