MINNEAPOLIS - A little girl who captured the hearts of many Minnesotans has died after leaving the hospital for hospice care on Friday.
According to the Facebook page created for June Rudd, the 4-year-old known as "June Bug" passed away on Friday December 20 surrounded by her family.
A post on December 21 read "June just earned her angel wings today. We will see you in the next life. We love you so much."
KARE 11's Jana Shortal introduced Minnesotans to June when her parents made a plea for 20,000 paper hearts to dress up the little girl's room at Children's Hospital last March. People were so moved by June's story and her parents' overflowing love that they sent nearly 100,000, paper hearts from across America and the globe.
June had a rare disease known as Aicardi Syndrome.
