MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — A young man has died in a violent crash on MN 610 westbound in Maple Grove.
The incident crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. just off westbound Highway 610 at Hemlock Lane, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
A report on the State Patrol website says 19-year-old Cristian John Schmidt apparently lost control of his Ford Taurus and struck a bridge abutment. The vehicle immediately burst into flames, and Schmidt, a resident of Dayton, did not survive. There were no other vehicles involved.
All lanes of MN 610 westbound were closed at Zachary Lane N through 7:15 a.m. for accident reconstruction and cleanup.
