ROCHESTER, Minn. - Authorities in southeastern Minnesota are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found in a road near Rochester.
A passerby noticed the body just before 4 a.m. in the 2300 block of 45th Street SE near the Wehrenberg Theatre, according to KTTC.
Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson says the man apparently suffered some trauma, but the cause of death is under investigation.
Torgerson says deputies arrived and found the man dead.
“The victim is an adult male, we don’t have any information in regard to who he is or cause of death as of yet,” Sheriff Torgerson said. “The BCA has just arrived in within the last half hour. We don’t have any suspects at this time. There was no vehicles or anything else at the scene, just the victim laying in the middle of the road.”
Authorities say the man was fully clothed and wearing a coat. Officials did not say what kind of trauma the man suffered. An autopsy is planned.
Due to the rural location of where the body was found investigators are currently investigating an area covering about 200 yards.
