Brief tornado touchdowns in Sibley County

The National Weather Service reported brief tornado touchdowns in Henderson and Arlington, Minnesota.

Severe weather, along with two brief tornado touchdowns, blew through parts of Minnesota early Friday evening.

The National Weather Service said the tornado touchdowns took place near Henderson and Arlington, Minnesota.

The tornado that touched down in Arlington was on the ground for about 30 seconds, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms flooded roads and ripped a roof off a business in Arlington.

So far, no injuries have been reported.

However, for a little while, residents of Arlington say the city got extremely dark.

"The rain started to get heavier and heavier, the wind came up and it was very much a driving wind for a long time," Terry Klages said. "Out my living room window was a whiteout for a stretch."

Powerful winds brought Arlington Haus Pub & Eatery's outdoor sign off its hinges. The owner of the restaurant, Denise Swenson says during the storm, she had to bolt her doors shut.

"The wind was blowing so hard that the door kept blowing open and water was trying to run in and so we had to lock it for a few minutes," Swenson said. "That's a heavy door too."

Swenson says her credit card systems, along with phone lines and cable are down for now. It wasn't until the fire department showed up though, that they realized something was seriously up.

"When the firetrucks came, and they're the tornado watchers, we knew it was something to be a little concerned about," she said.
