BIG LAKE, Minn. — The Big Lake Police Chief is mad... and he wants the person or persons responsible for some costly vandalism in his community and others across Sherburne County to know it.
Chief Joel Scharf posted on Facebook Tuesday, informing residents that someone has been throwing nails and screws onto the driving lanes of streets and highways in Big Lake, Zimmerman, Orrack, and on rural Sherburne County Roadways. Scharf says a number of vehicles have been damaged, including one of Big Lake's squad cars.
"We are working diligently to try to identify those responsible for this disgusting act, including reviewing video from adjacent businesses," the chief wrote.
On Wednesday, the chief told KARE 11 that Big Lake and Sherburne County were hit again Tuesday night.
Scharf is asking that anyone whose vehicle was damaged in Big Lake to file an online report so police are aware of how many people are impacted. Police are also asking anyone who may know the identity of those responsible to contact Big Lake investigators at 763-251-2987.
Scharf tells KARE that they are working on some "very solid leads."
