GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Sometimes the lessons that stick with young people aren't necessarily the ones that are learned in a classroom.
A group of 15 big-hearted 4th graders from the Breck School now know how creativity and passion can help out their community both in direct and indirect ways.
Students Rory Meenan and Birdie Hensley visited KARE 11 News at Noon, along with Animal Humane Society (AHS) spokesperson Brittany Baumann and a pup named Booth. The crew told KARE's Alexis Rogers about a recent craft fair they hosted that raised $800 to donate to AHS and animals in need.
Baumann says the girls delivered the generous donation and spent some time at the facility learning about AHS and its mission of finding animals' forever homes. She says both the financial and emotional investment by the young people are important, as they are the next generation of pet owners and animal lovers.
