KARE 11 Food Fight donations result in more than 120,000 meals

Team Julie won the friendly competition between KARE 11 anchors to raise the most donations supporting The Salvation Army.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The 2024 KARE 11 Food Fight sponsored by The Salvation Army was a huge success in helping to feed families across our area.

Thanks to the generosity and support of KARE 11 viewers, the Food Fight collected nearly $100,000 worth of food and financial donations, which is enough for 121,213 meals, according to The Salvation Army.

“Demand for food assistance in Minnesota has doubled in the last two years, and the need is staggering,” said Lt. Colonel Randall Polsley, Salvation Army division commander. “The KARE 11 Food Fight is the cornerstone of our month-long food collection to help address these needs, and we are enormously grateful for both KARE 11’s substantial effort and for their viewers’ abundant generosity.”

"We take pride in informing and providing a platform for resources in our community," said KARE 11 Community Relations Manager Alexis Rogers. "Actively serving our community is important to us. Our goal for the KARE 11 food fight was to raise awareness, resources and embody our commitment to address the needs of all Minnesotans while connecting in a genuine way. Serving alongside our viewers in a fun way is always an honor and privilege."

KARE 11 anchors competed throughout the month-long event to collect the most donations. Here are the final results:
